San Cassiano at a height of 1537 m is one of the most peaceful villages of Alta Badia, before being populated it was pasturelands for all cattle. It is called after its patron saint to whom the village church is consecrated and which church was built in 1782.

The village has a small pedestrian zone with various shops and locals, but most important is the museum "Pic museo Ladin" that owns a rich collection of fossils and above all the rests of the significant discovery of the "Ursus Spelaeus".

From the village you enter directly the ski carousel of Alta Badia to the famous Sella Ronda.
